Though we have a couple more months of chilly temperatures and kids in the classroom, summer will be here before you know it. As working parents, we know summer is a vacation for the kids, but it’s anything but a vacation for the adults. Whether you’ve got young children who need to burn off some energy, elementary kids who want to take on a new sport, or teenagers looking for volunteering opportunities, Valley Country Club has you covered!
We are excited to jump into our fifth year of Youth Programming at Valley Country Club. The opportunities our Youth Activity Center provides for families during the summer months is like no other club around. The 2020 Junior Programming Guide has everything you need to know about our summer programming and daily activities. Start planning your summer, there are plenty of options!
Summer Camp Voyager
While there are a number of activities and events listed in our Junior Guide that we hope you'll join us for, we understand that many families are looking for consistent summer-long programs for their children while they’re out of school. And Camp Voyager is just the ticket!
Camp Voyager themes are specifically designed to encourage play and development. Each week of camp will have a different theme while each day will have its own unique activities. Indoor activities will be planned if there is inclement weather. If your child is also taking sports lessons at Valley, a counselor will escort them to and from their lessons, so you don’t have to worry about getting them from point A to B.
The camp runs from 8 am - 4 pm daily every week during summer, so parents can rest easy knowing their kids are in good hands and keeping busy throughout the day. Summer Camp Voyager will start May 27 and runs through August 7 and it’s open to ages 4-12.
Summer Junior Sports
Speaking of lessons, getting kids interested in sports is a passion of ours! We love watching youth pick up the game of golf in a fun and encouraging setting through our 2020 Summer Junior Golf League. Each summer lesson will have a different curriculum which will help junior golfers grow their golf skill throughout the season. Each class will be divided by skill levels and age at the start. From rules and etiquette, to play and fun – we’ll cover all the bases when it comes to learning the game of golf.
Of course, we encourage other sports, too! We’re gearing up for an exciting summer of Junior Tennis led by Head Tennis Professional and USPTA Elite Professional Mike Humphrey. No matter what your age or ability level, Valley can help your kids pick up a racket and get started. Tennis programs are structured based on age and experience level. If you have a younger player or they are still developing their skills, lessons are going to be the best place to start. If your kids aren’t ready for Junior Team Tennis just yet but have learned as much as they can from lessons, consider Junior Match Play. If you’re a pro, join a team!
And lastly, there’s no better opportunity to cool off during those hot summer months than to hop into the Valley pool. Our aquatics programming includes private swimming lessons, team swim leagues, as well as volunteer opportunities.
